Farm Animal Rescue
Story
Farm Animal Rescue is a sanctuary on 55 acres outside Dayboro, about 40 kilometres north of Brisbane. It cares for more than 100 animals rescued from the food industry, including pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and chickens.
What sets it apart is that the animals roam free. Rather than being kept in pens or yards, residents move across the sanctuary’s paddocks and forest, and visitors on guided tours walk out to find them where they are.
Some rehabilitated animals are placed through a strict adoption programme, which requires lifetime care and a commitment that nothing derived from the animal will be sold, eaten or used for profit. The rest stay at the sanctuary for life.

Know a sanctuary we should feature?
World Sanctuaries is a growing directory of places providing refuge and lifelong care to animals. If you know a sanctuary that belongs here, we’d love to hear about it.
