Edgar’s Mission
Story
Edgar’s Mission began in 2003 with a single rescued piglet named Edgar. Founded by Pam Ahern, it has grown into a not-for-profit sanctuary for formerly farmed animals near Lancefield, Victoria.
Residents include pigs, sheep, goats, cattle, alpacas, chickens and ducks, many of whom arrived neglected, injured or abandoned. Each receives individual veterinary care, with particular attention to older and special-needs animals, and many are known to supporters by name through their own profiles and stories.
Some residents are placed in vetted permanent homes, under conditions that prohibit breeding, sale or killing. The rest live out their lives at the sanctuary, where visits are guided and animals choose whether to interact with people.
In 2026, Pam Ahern received an OAM for services to animal welfare.
