FRIEND Farm Animal Sanctuary

United Kingdom200 animals

Story

FRIEND Farm Animal Sanctuary began in 1994, when Marion Eaton bought a disabled lamb for £1 at a livestock market in Sevenoaks. Run by Marion and her husband, Mark, it grew into a refuge on a 10-acre site among the orchards and hop farms of East Peckham in Kent.

It is now home to nearly 200 animals, including more than 35 pigs, along with cows, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys, many of whom were unwanted, abused, neglected or abandoned.

Since Marion’s death, Mark has continued the work with the help of volunteers. She is buried at the sanctuary, which keeps a memorial garden in her honour.

Know a sanctuary we should feature?

World Sanctuaries is a growing directory of places providing refuge and lifelong care to animals. If you know a sanctuary that belongs here, we’d love to hear about it.
